Boo! Ride POSTPONED TO SUNDAY OCTOBER 26

All right, you’ve got one more day to perfect your costumes! MOB has decided to move Boo! Ride to SUNDAY OCTOBER 26 at 2pm - we don’t want to get drenched in Saturday’s rain.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26 - 2pm. Start at the Oak Hill Cemetery at R St. and Avon Place, NW, full ride map here. Final destination is the Palace of Wonders.

REMEMBER TO:
Bust out your broomsticks and grease up your bike chains, ’cause it’s Halloween and the DC Ministry of Bicycling is taking to the streets to make our city safer and awesome to bike in. Don your ghoulish gear on, hop on your boneshaker and meet us at the cemetery.

Sweet Ride

What can we say?

Saturday’s was one sweet ride. Never before have we felt so hot (and hot!) promoting bicycling rights and safety through the streets of DC.

We hit the ground rolling at the Freedom Plaza;
Group-problem solved to get our popped-tire cyclist up and going again on another rider’s tandem;
Dipped our toes in the Dupont Circle fountain;
Conversed and got to know one another;
And tackled the hill up to the Red Derby to eat mmmmm sweet potato fries amidst welcome drops of rain.
We know one thing for sure - that was awesome.

Thanks to everyone who made it such a great ride - we had tons of fun and were excited to meet so many knowledgeable and fashionable people excited about creating a biking community in DC.

If you came out this time, we want you back. If you didn’t make it to this ride, get your sorry little gel seat out for the next one!

A few things to check out - we put up photos from Saturday on Flickr, and if you have any to add, please do and tag with ‘dcmob’.

We also got more nice coverage and photos of our ride on the Greater Greater Washington blog.

As for our next scheming - MOBsters will be waving our flags and handing out flyers at DC’s Car Free Day on Monday September 22nd.

DC Car Free Day Celebration
Monday, September 22 11:00am - 3:00pm (MOB will shoot for a noon-time arrival)
7th & F Street, NW

We’re also planning a ride for October 25th. Keep checking back here for more updates and a costume theme as the ride gets closer, or send us an email and we’ll make sure you know what’s up.

-Big love from your friendly neighborhood MOB (Abby, Ben, Erica, Matt, Michael, Michelle, Rachel, and co.)

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE BIKE RIDE TO THE END OF THE WORLD (or at least to the Red Derby)

Saturday, September 13th 3:30pm, Freedom Plaza, DC

Join the DC Ministry of Bicycling (MOB) as we promote biker visibility and look spankin’ hot as we ride our steel horses through the nation’s capital. Get out your shortest shorts, your whitest whites and get ready to pop a wheelie on the populace. Dress code: bike tie formal (ties, white button downs/ups, poufy dresses, bike grease).

Our route goes along bike lanes throughout the city—from Freedom Plaza to Dupont Circle, through Columbia Heights, finally landing us at the doors of the Red Derby on 14th St. We’ll stop at Dupont Circle to hand out bike safety and bikers’ rights information and let people know how they can join in on future rides.

We’ll be rocking MOB paraphernalia, which we’ll bring on Saturday for everyone to enjoy. Friday night we’ll pre-party as we go over our route, work out our spray paint muscles, and lube up our chains at GOLDSTAR.

TO RECAP

Friday September 12th: 9pm Pre-party and ride preparations, flag and t-shirt making at GOLDSTAR - Email us for details.

Saturday September 13th: 3:30pm Bike Ride: Freedom Plaza (Pennsylvania Ave NW between 13th and 14th St) to Red Derby (3718 14th St NW). Route here.

Be there or be squared.

Love,

Your Friendly Neighborhood MOB
